Reception Station

I want to give you a short report on my own reception station setup ...

At first you have to get an antenna with at least 120cm in diameter and a DVB-S2 capable (often called Digital) LNB which covers the frequencies from 10,7 to 12,75 GHz. The location of the station should be clear of obstacles (which in my case isn't always true). If you use a good quality LNB-cable the reception PC can be as far as 200m away from the antenna without the need of an amplifier. My antenna has a 160cm dish and I am using a normal Digital-LNB. Pointing the antenna into the right direction is very important and can sometimes be annoying. The spot of interest in the sky is the EUTELSAT 10A satellite from which the data-stream is coming.
