Hyper-V Installation and Configuration

Category: Server & Network

As your server is a modular system you can install roles and features from the server manager. So your system only serves services which are needed. This guarantees a good performance if you keep your system capabilities in mind ...

But beside roles and features there are bigger services (e.g. servers) which you should not install on the same (operating) system as your for example Domain Controller is running. To do so Microsoft developed the Hyper-V. It creates virtual machines on the same (powerful) hardware and separates them from each other. The virtual machine gets its own virtual network interface card and so has its own IP-address within the network.

In my system for example the Exchange Server 2013 is setup within a hypervisor (e.g. Hyper-V).
